REQUEST FOR ENTRIES

Purpose: 

To recognize excellence and innovation for the use of concrete as the premier architectural/structural building material.

Project Categories:

1. Commercial / Industrial  Building
2.  Residential Building Structure (Example: High-rise, Mid-rise, ICF, Concrete Home, Mixed use buildings utilizing concrete) 
3. Transportation / Infrastructure (Example: Streets & Intersections, Paving, Vehicular Bridges, Pedestrian Bridges, White Topping) 
4. Military or other Public Project
5. Architectural Concrete
6. Concrete Products (Example: Pre-Cast, Blocks, Pavers, Retaining Walls, etc.)
7. Art in Concrete (Cast-In-Place or Pre-Cast) 
8. Innovation of Concrete (Cast-In-Place or Pre-Cast) 
9. Concrete Sustainability or LEED application (concrete used to enhance sustainability)
10. Repair and Restoration

Judging Criteria (Projects must have been completed in the years 2023-2025)

• Employing a unique or innovative application in the method or material in the design and construction.
• The construction team achieves superb results in quality and/or schedule.
• Employing concrete in an architectural finish or concrete as artwork.
• Substituting concrete for other building materials (asphalt, steel)
• Concrete used to increase the overall project’s sustainability

Entry Requirements:

1. Complete Entry Form
1. Please specify Award Category being submitted for.
2. Note a plaque to the submitter will be provided. Please indicate with an asterisk as to whom if any additional plaques need to be ordered.  Additional plaques are $200.00 a plaque.
3. Please check accuracy of names and spelling as they will be used on Award Plaques.
2. Minimum of 6 / Maximum of 8 digital photos in High Resolution with written description of each for One Drive Shared File. Time Lapse or Video footage of project can be submitted in addition to digital photos.  These may be included in our awards presentation.
3. One page description emphasizing the project’s use of concrete.  Include specific information regarding the number of yards, specified strength, special design applications (such as high early strength, specialty admixtures or aggregates, or innovative use of mineral admixtures)
4. 500 word description of project of how concrete was featured in the project. It should also cover the complexity and uniqueness of the project and might include information such as:

·        Special features of the concrete

·        Degree of difficulty

·        Project challenges

·        Ecological and environmental factors

·        Problem solving

5. 300 word description of the Project. Provide a detailed description of your project.
6. All participants are asked to bring a presentation board (minimum size 20”x30”, maximum size 30”x40”) and easel to the Annual Awards Dinner displaying the project with photographs, drawings and/or appropriate narrative.
7. ACI San Diego Chapter will be selecting two outstanding projects to move on to the ACI National awards.  If your project is selected on the National Level, the presentation will be at the 2026 ACI Fall Convention. We will notify all winners.
8. Projects are limited to those built in Greater San Diego Area, Mexico, and Riverside Counties.

Presentation of awards will be at the May 8, 2026 Awards Dinner presented by the San Diego ACI Chapter.  The Chapter reserves the right to publish or exhibit entry information submitted.  The Chapter cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to the materials submitted.  Thanks for submitting.  Good Luck!
